ELECTRICS SHOP MANAGER
ADIRONDACK STUDIOS – ARGYLE, NY
Adirondack Studios (ADKS) is hiring an experienced Electrics Shop Manager with a track record of taking ownership and delivering! Our company designs, builds, and installs the scenic and themed environments you experience in venues ranging from theme parks and casinos to museums, live shows, retail, and public art. We have been in business since 1975, and our work is seen around the world. The ideal candidate will lead the Argyle Production Electrics department in coordinating and building custom fabrication systems, including both static and dynamic (mechanically driven) products and elements.
Primary Responsibilities:
Manage the Electrics Shop personnel in the fabrication, finishing, and quality control of all products to ensure safe, timely delivery. This includes, but is not limited to, work calls, work planning, fabrication planning, hands-on fabrication, and ordering material needs, within budget constraints.

Plan and prepare for all Electrical Shop fabrication needs

Attendance at project kick-off and weekly meetings

Collaborating with other departments for workflow needs and efficiencies

Create and maintain paperwork, including material trackers, certifications, and related documents, to meet client-specific General Performance Standards

Manage Materials, Personnel, and Workflow

Planning and implementing the cabling (circuiting) of lights and electric power distribution for any project, show, show action, control, or production based on provided plans and knowledge of the desired effect

Determine electrical material needs for each work order based on design and submit a list to the purchasing department

Inventory, repair, and maintenance of all specified equipment
-
Organization and purchasing of all consumables

Programming and installation of architectural and lightbox-related LED lighting systems
-
Maintain ADK Studios’ standing as a UL 508A and UL 48 listed sign shop

Troubleshoot, assess and work to correct any problems or issues with the electrical equipment

Maintain work order budgets, schedules, and quality standards of the Company

Assist in specifying and bidding for electrical components

Maintain electrical department tooling and shop space
-
Develop and organize any necessary manuals, drawings, or documentation for electrical products

Help create, set up, and run necessary Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for electrical devices

Review drawings and develop process documents to plan the critical path movement of the product through the electrics department

Travel for company business as required
Important Skills:

Fabrication experience

Estimation experience
-
Theatrical fabrication and lighting knowledge

LED lighting knowledge
Additional Duties:

Approve all staff time sheets.

Authorize and approve all department expenses against the established budget.

Advise production managers and project managers of any deficiencies in product or process.

Inform Project and Production Managers of all budgets and schedule overruns or slippage.

Authorizes department staff’s personal and vacation time.

Draft weekly call sheets for department staff.

Create SOP documents as required.

Direct and support staff personnel to maintain a safe and clean working environment.

This position will be located in our ADKS Argyle facility.
