Position Title: Culture and Student Support Specialist (12-Month Position)
Reports To: Dean of Culture
Position Summary
The Culture and Student Support Specialist plays a vital role on the campus culture team, working to establish and maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment. This position directly contributes to the academic success and social-emotional development of students by fostering a positive school culture and ensuring the smooth execution of key schoolwide systems.
Key Responsibilities
Schoolwide Operational Support

Ensure all schoolwide activities are executed with operational excellence.

Maintain safe and orderly transitions throughout the school day, including class changes, lunch, arrival, and dismissal.

Support incident documentation processes, ensuring all OSP/OIG reports and incidents are properly entered into Aspen and PowerSchool.

Collaborate with Peace Warriors, Learning to Rise, social workers, and the Behavioral Health Team to coordinate interventions and student supports.
School Culture Development

Implement systems and structures that support a consistently positive school culture.

Participate in culture audits and demonstrate growth that leads to a proficient or higher rating.

Support student engagement in leadership and restorative practices.
Staff Support and Collaboration

Partner with the Dean of Culture and the Culture Team to help staff create safe, respectful, and nurturing learning environments.

Foster a professional culture that balances accountability with meaningful support.

Serve as a model and coach for implementing consistent cultural expectations.
Student and Family Experience

Contribute to an environment where students feel safe, supported, and empowered.

Support clear communication and positive relationships with families.

Promote equity and inclusivity in all school practices and systems.
QualificationsEducation Requirement
-
Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
-
Preferred: Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field

Passion for working with high school students in an urban school environment.

Demonstrated commitment to equity, restorative practices, and culturally responsive support.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to remain calm and solutions-focused in a fast-paced school environment.

Experience in school operations, culture, or student support preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and interact with students and staff.

Occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds.

Work occurs primarily in a school setting with moderate to high noise levels.

Occasional travel may be required for student or alumni engagement events.
