SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the safe and efficient fabrication, repair, and assembly of steel products and equipment at AXE Steel. The Welder I is an entry-level welding position with work performed under close supervision and guidance from experienced welders, leads, and supervisors.

- Assist with steel fabrication, repair, assembly, and finishing operations.
- Learn to operate welding and fabrication equipment safely and effectively.
- Perform basic problem-solving on simple production and fabrication issues.
- Take measurements and verify dimensions within specified tolerances.
- Learn to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and work orders.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Work effectively with team members and other departments.
- Complete assigned work safely, accurately, and efficiently.
- Maintain prompt and dependable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND QUALITIES
- Ability to perform simple flat, horizontal, and groove welds.
- Ability to fit, tack, and weld basic subassemblies.
- Ability to perform measurements within specified tolerances.
- Knowledge of material identification and handling.
- Basic understanding of welding equipment setup, operation, and maintenance.
- General knowledge of fabrication shop equipment and operations.
- Basic understanding of welding symbols and fabrication drawings.
- Ability to read and interpret a tape measure in both imperial and metric units.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work safely in a fabrication and industrial environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to accept responsibility and be accountable for assigned work.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Technical welding training or vocational education preferred.
- 0–2 years of welding or fabrication experience preferred.
- Experience in structural steel, vessel fabrication, pressure equipment repair, or industrial fabrication is a plus.
EXPERIENCE

- 1–2 years of welding and fabrication experience.
- Experience working in a steel fabrication or manufacturing environment.
