POSITION SUMMARY:
· Responsible for the preparation of food to comply with State health requirements.
· Working knowledge of health regulations, proper food safety, food service procedures, and sanitation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Ability to read and write English to communicate with supervisor, staff and clientele.
· Understanding of weights, measurements and portion sizes.
· Ability to follow recipes and directions.
· Knowledge of receiving and storage of food and non-food items.
· Knowledge of food safety and State health regulations.
· Current Food Handler’s Card or obtain upon hiring (Agency will pay)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Assist cook with daily meal preparation.
· Assembling of meals for homebound and additional nutrition sites.
· Assembling of trays during designated serving time.
· General kitchen clean-up
· Maintain the kitchen in a sanitary condition to comply with regulations.
· Maintain all storage areas in an orderly manner to comply with regulations.
· Verify food and supply orders as received, notifying the immediate supervisor of discrepancies.
· Rotate and date food items upon delivery, using the FIFO method.
· Attend workshops and in-service training as planned by the Nutrition Program Supervisor, if applicable.
· Other duties as assigned, as may be related to the position.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
·Previous kitchen experience in food preparation/cooking.
Ability to lift or move up to 40 pounds.
· Ability to accurately follow instructions and work as part of a team.
· Must use all protective equipment provided for safe completion of tasks.
· Ability to work independently and maintain satisfactory progress in multiple assignments.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality pertaining to agency information, visitors, and clients.
· Must be willing to carry out the vision and goals of Senior Monongalians, Inc.
