Health Education Specialist
GENERAL WORK FUNCTIONS
The Health Education Specialist position falls under the Health Education Department for the Wayne County Health Department. This position includes planning, program development, evaluation, and coordination of health education and outreach interventions for programs within the agency as well as specific programs in the community to meet specific needs and interests within the jurisdiction of the health department guidelines. This position educates and advocates for behavior, environmental, and policy change to positively impact individual and population outcomes based on the Healthy North Carolina 2030 objectives. This position promotes and actively educates toward the reduction of health disparities, decreasing chronic disease, and encouraging healthier lifestyles. This position includes data
management responsibilities which includes but not limited to data collection, analyzing and interpretations of health data using a variety of statistical tools. The Health Education Specialist will work effectively as a member of the department; maintains the highest standards of professionalism; cooperates with co-workers to improve the quality of work and work diligently. This position is directly supervised by the Health Education Supervisor. Position is grant funded and secured from August 1st 2025 – July 31st 2028.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health Education or in Public Health with a major in Public Health Education and one year of experience in public health education; or two years of experience in public health education; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Licensure or Certification:
A valid NC Driver’s License.
