Position Summary
Witmer Furniture is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Panel Saw Operator to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for safely operating computerized and manual panel saw equipment to accurately cut wood panels and components according to production schedules and engineering specifications. The ideal candidate takes pride in producing quality work, maintaining a clean work area, and supporting a team-focused manufacturing environment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Operate panel saw equipment safely and efficiently.
- Read and interpret cut lists, work orders, and production drawings.
- Measure and verify material dimensions before and after cutting.
- Produce accurate parts while minimizing waste and maximizing material yield.
- Perform machine setup and adjustments for various product requirements.
- Conduct routine quality inspections to ensure parts meet specifications.
- Identify material defects and report quality concerns.
- Label, stack, and transport completed components to the next production operation.
- Perform daily preventive maintenance and basic machine cleaning.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area.
- Work closely with production, engineering, and quality departments to resolve issues.
- Meet daily production goals while maintaining high quality standards.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Manufacturing experience preferred; woodworking or furniture manufacturing experience is a plus.
- Previous experience operating panel saws, table saws, CNC equipment, or similar manufacturing machinery preferred.
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure and use basic measuring tools.
- Basic math skills including fractions and decimals.
- Ability to read production drawings and work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials up to 50 pounds.
- Repetitive bending, reaching, twisting, and lifting throughout the shift.
- Ability to safely operate powered industrial equipment after training if required.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in wood products or furniture manufacturing.
- Experience using barcode or manufacturing software systems.
- Forklift certification (or willingness to become certified).
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience is a plus.
