Senior Electrical Design Engineer
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to support the design and development of electrical control systems, power distribution, and switchgear for advanced industrial machinery and manufacturing equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design electrical control systems, power distribution systems, and switchgear assemblies for industrial machinery.
- Create and maintain detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical.
- Develop engineering documentation, including bills of materials, technical specifications, wiring diagrams, and electrical drawings.
- Design and document electrical control panels and cabinets for industrial equipment.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers to integrate electrical and mechanical systems.
- Support manufacturing, testing, production, and commissioning activities.
- Review engineering changes and implement design improvements.
- Provide technical support during equipment build, testing, installation, and commissioning.
- Work with internal teams and customers to resolve electrical design and technical issues.
- Ensure designs meet applicable industry standards and safety requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of relevant electrical engineering design experience.
- Strong experience designing industrial electrical control panels and cabinets.
- Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical.
- Strong experience creating and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Experience with machine controls, power distribution, and/or switchgear.
- Experience designing electrical systems for industrial machinery, manufacturing equipment, or OEM equipment.
- Knowledge of industrial electrical systems and control circuits.
- Understanding of applicable standards, including NEC, UL508A, NFPA 70, NFPA 79, NFPA 70E, and CSA.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with PLC-controlled machinery and automation systems.
- Experience working closely with Mechanical Engineers.
- Manufacturing, production, equipment testing, or commissioning experience.
- Customer-facing technical support experience.
- Experience with SolidWorks.
- Experience with engineering changes, BOMs, and technical documentation.
