The Delivery Driver (Team Leader)
The driver is ultimately responsible for the vehicle, the inventory, and ensuring the team hits their route schedule safely.
- Driving & Logistics: Safely operating commercial box truck (26 feet) in tight residential areas, heavy traffic, and varying weather conditions
- Team Safety: Directing the helper on how to balance and stack the truck to ensure cargo doesn't shift and cause an accident.
The Driver Helper (Assistant & Spotter)
The helper acts as the driver's second set of eyes and coordinates the physical logistics at each stop.
- Navigation Assistance: Acting as a spotter when the driver is backing up, parking, or navigating tight spaces.
- Site Preparation: Walking into the customer's home before carrying the item to check the path, measure doorways, and lay down floor protectors.
- Unboxing & Prep: Unwrapping furniture or staging appliances on the truck lift gate so they are ready to be carried in immediately.
Shared Responsibilities (What Both Must Do)
Once the truck is parked, the distinction between driver and helper largely disappears. Both roles require equal effort to execute the delivery without damaging property or merchandise.
Heavy Team Lifting
- Coordinating two-person lifts for oversized furniture (sectional sofas, mattresses) and major appliances (commercial ranges, French-door refrigerators).
- Mastering specialized equipment like appliance dollies, stair-climbing hand trucks, and lifting straps.
Basic Installation & Assembly
- Furniture: Attaching table legs, assembling bed frames, and leveling wardrobes.
- Appliances: Connecting water lines (refrigerators/ice makers), leveling washing machines, hooking up dryer vents, and installing anti-tip brackets on stoves.
Customer Service & Clean-Up
- Greeting the client, inspecting the items for defects together, and collecting delivery signatures.
- Hauling away old units for recycling and ensuring all trash (cardboard, styrofoam) is cleared out of the customer's home.
Pay: $140.00 - $225.00 per day
