Position Overview
HKNS Events is looking for reliable, hardworking team members to help with the setup and breakdown of weddings and other special events.
This is a part-time, event-based position. Hours and days will vary depending on our event schedule. Some events may require early mornings, late nights, overnight work, weekends, and longer shifts.
Pay
- Starting Pay: $17.50 per hour
- Higher hourly pay for qualifying overnight shifts
- Employees are paid for approved hours worked and must properly clock in and out for every shift.
Main ResponsibilitiesEvent Preparation
Employees may be asked to:
- Help organize and prepare décor and equipment for upcoming events.
- Pull the correct inventory needed for each event.
- Carefully pack décor, furniture, centerpieces, backdrops, linens, props, tools, and other event items.
- Load and unload company trucks.
- Make sure items are handled carefully to prevent damage.
- Help keep the warehouse, work areas, and trucks clean and organized.
Event Setup
During event setups, employees will:
- Arrive on time and ready to work at the scheduled location.
- Follow instructions from the HKNS Events manager or event lead.
- Unload trucks and bring décor and equipment into the venue.
- Help install and arrange event décor according to the approved design.
- Set up items such as:
- Stages and backdrops
- Tables and specialty furniture
- Centerpieces
- Linens and table décor
- Florals and decorative pieces
- Sofas and seating
- Props and accessories
- Other event décor and equipment
- Help move and position heavy or large items when required.
- Make sure everything is clean, properly placed, and ready before the event begins.
- Stay productive throughout the setup and ask the event lead what to work on next when an assigned task is completed.
- Help clean the work area and remove boxes, packaging, tools, and other setup materials before leaving.
Event Breakdown & Pickup
After an event, employees may be scheduled to return to the venue to:
- Carefully remove HKNS Events décor and equipment.
- Pack items properly to prevent damage.
- Load the truck safely and efficiently.
- Check the venue to make sure HKNS Events items are not left behind.
- Unload items when returning to the warehouse.
- Return inventory to the correct warehouse locations.
- Report damaged, broken, stained, or missing items to management.
Employee Expectations
All HKNS Events crew members are expected to:
- Be reliable and arrive on time.
- Confirm their availability when schedules are sent.
- Notify management as soon as possible if an emergency prevents them from working a scheduled shift.
- Follow instructions from managers and event leads.
- Work efficiently and stay productive throughout the shift.
- Work respectfully as part of a team.
- Handle expensive décor, furniture, equipment, and client/venue property carefully.
- Maintain a professional attitude while working at venues.
- Be respectful toward clients, venue staff, vendors, coworkers, and management.
- Avoid unnecessary phone use while actively working.
- Follow all safety instructions when lifting, carrying, loading, unloading, or installing items.
- Clock in and out accurately.
- Never leave a scheduled shift without approval from the manager or event lead.
Physical Requirements
Because this is a hands-on event position, employees must generally be able to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Bend, reach, carry, push, and pull items.
- Regularly perform physical setup and breakdown work.
- Safely lift and move event décor, boxes, equipment, and furniture individually or with assistance when appropriate.
- Work in warehouses, loading areas, event venues, and other event environments.
Employees should always ask for assistance when an item cannot be moved safely by one person.
Schedule & Availability
This is not a traditional Monday–Friday position. Work is based on HKNS Events' event schedule.
Employees may be offered shifts during:
- Weekdays
- Weekends
- Early mornings
- Evenings
- Late nights
- Overnight hours
Employees are not guaranteed the same number of hours every week. Availability and scheduling needs may change depending on the number and size of events.
Previous event setup or décor experience is helpful, but it is not required. We are willing to train dependable employees who are willing to learn and work.
