Responsibilities
- Safely assist students and pedestrians in crossing streets at designated crosswalks during school hours and peak traffic times
- Monitor traffic flow to ensure vehicles yield appropriately at crosswalks and intersections
- Communicate clearly with pedestrians, drivers, and school staff to coordinate safe crossing procedures
- Conduct regular inspections of crossing areas to ensure visibility, signage integrity, and overall safety compliance
- Follow established safety protocols aligned with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards and local regulations
- Maintain accurate records of daily activities, incidents, and safety checks
- Respond promptly to emergency situations by administering first aid or CPR when necessary, ensuring proper documentation of incidents
Skills
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, drivers, and colleagues
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and compliance management practices
- Basic first aid certification and CPR training to handle medical emergencies confidently
- Ability to assess vital signs when necessary and recognize signs of distress or injury
- Familiarity with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) guidelines for confidentiality when handling sensitive information
- Understanding of EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) regulations related to environmental safety in outdoor settings
- Excellent observation skills for monitoring traffic patterns, pedestrian behavior, and environmental hazards
