Duties
- Assist with patient intake by collecting medical histories, vital signs, and documenting symptoms accurately in electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems).
- Prepare examination rooms, sterilize instruments, and ensure all medical supplies are stocked and ready for procedures including X-ray, phlebotomy, and medication administration.
- Support physicians with clinical procedures such as wound care, injections, medication administration, and basic life support (BLS) protocols.
- Manage medical documentation meticulously, including ICD coding, medical records management, and detailed notes on patient interactions to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Conduct patient education on treatment plans, medication usage, and follow-up care while demonstrating excellent patient service skills.
- Perform routine clinical tasks like taking vital signs, performing EHR system updates, and assisting with specimen collection for laboratory testing.
- Coordinate with hospital staff for inpatient or outpatient procedures in specialized units such as PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), Geriatrics clinics, or Level I/II trauma centers to ensure seamless patient flow.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant with background in dermatology, internal medicine, emergency medicine, or hospital medicine.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, medical terminology, ICD coding, and medical assisting techniques including phlebotomy and X-ray procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and electronic health records management is essential for accurate documentation.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as medication administration or phlebotomy certification are highly desirable.
- Prior experience working in hospital settings or trauma centers—particularly Level I or Level II trauma experience—is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage medical records efficiently while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Excellent communication skills focused on delivering compassionate patient service across diverse populations including outpatient clinics and inpatient units.
