SENECA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct investigations on offenders with active warrants, actively seek and arrest persons with warrants. Type and serve charges on offenders. Transport offenders to and from the jail to the courts, medical appointments and all other transportation needs. To keep an accurate radio log with dispatch, schedule hearings with all courts and maintain a schedule of the day. Maintain vehicles that are used in the division.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent; Ohio Corrections Academy & Ohio Peace Officer’s Academy certification, valid Ohio driver’s license; satisfactory fulfillment of the physical agility standards. An individual who poses a direct threat to the health and safety of himself/herself or others in the workplace will be deemed not qualified for this position.

- Assist the Road division when needed
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor and co-workers
- Understand and perform extraditions
- Working knowledge of the Ohio Revised Code
- May be acquired after hire
TRANSPORT/WARRANT SERVICE
Obtains transfer/transport list from supervisor
Obtains warrants from Dispatch for service
Actively seek out and arrest persons with active warrants
Complete proper paperwork in warrant service
Type and serve charges on persons who break the law
Obtains transport vehicle
Prepares and searches transport vehicle
Drives vehicle to sally port
Prepares files for transfer
Prepares inmates/detainees for transfer
Searches inmates/detainees
Applies restraints
Secures inmates/detainees in vehicle
Obtains firearm from gun locker
Transports inmates/detainees to:
Court
Medical, dental or psychiatric office
Other corrections facilities
MISCELLANEOUS
Checks LEADS for outstanding warrants
Attends meetings, as requested
Maintains and increases knowledge and skills through attendance at meetings, conferences, training seminars and in-service training sessions
Performs additional duties and assignments, as requested
Starting Pay is $25.33 per hour
Monday through Friday 8 am – 4 pm with most holidays off
