An eco-friendly clothing line near downtown Los Angeles is currently looking for a versatile independent contractor to work alongside the designer. The ideal candidate learns quickly and demonstrates competence across a broad range of tasks. We are looking for an individual that can complete small production runs at pace to meet our deadlines. We are currently looking for someone to work approximately 24 to 40 hours per week. The majority of the work involves hand dyeing, basic single needle sewing, and hand sewing work. Experience, familiarity, and an interest in dyeing and embroidery is a huge plus. Qualified candidates must have at least one year of experience sewing on an Industrial single needle. All in person Interviewees will be asked to complete a 45 minute sewing test. We specialize in eco-friendly hand dyed cashmere sweaters, accessories and linen shirting. Starting wage to be determined by skill level. The studio is located near public transportation and also has ample street parking. Please email resumes and a description of your work experience. 1. Must be fluent in english, bilingual is a plus!!
2. Must be familiar with industrial single needle and overlock machines.
3. Should have hand sewing skills, buttons, and darning.
4. Must have basic understanding of patterns.
5. Must be available to work between the hours of 9:00 am to 5:00pm M-F but we will work with your other scheduling constraints.
6. Compensation is $ 20/hr for the 2 week trial period, with final hourly based on skill level and experience, ranging from $20 to $22.
7. This position is for independent contractors.
8. This position starts immediately.
