Position Summary
We are seeking a Floating Teacher Aide based in our 1st grade classroom who will also substitute across all grades (PK–8) when a teacher is out — ideal for an adaptable team member who enjoys working with children of all ages.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily instructional and classroom support in 1st grade, working closely with the lead teacher.
- Cover classrooms across all grades when teachers are absent, maintaining a safe and productive learning environment.
- Assist with small-group and individual student support, including reinforcing lessons and helping students stay on task.
- Supervise students during arrival, dismissal, transitions, lunch, and recess as needed.
- Help manage classroom materials, prepare instructional resources, and keep learning spaces organized.
- Demonstrate dependability with strong attendance and timeliness, day in and day out; being present and ready is essential in this role.
- Support classroom routines, behavior expectations, and a positive, faith-centered school culture.
- Communicate respectfully and professionally with students, staff, and families.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or an Associate’s degree preferred.
- Prior experience working with children in a school, childcare, or camp setting is a plus.
- Flexibility to adapt to different grade levels and classroom needs on short notice, with reliability across the full daily schedule.
- Strong classroom management, patience, and a genuine care for students.
- Comfortable supporting a Catholic, faith-based learning environment, and willing to uphold and support all teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Must complete the Archdiocese of New York’s VIRTUS / Safe Environment training and required background screening upon hire.
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
