The Mold Setter I is able to work in multiple areas including; set up and adjusts automatic compression, injection, or transfer machines used to mold plastic materials to specified shape, and utilizing knowledge of machine functions. This position will be responsible for the machine set-ups including primary and secondary equipment both scheduled and unscheduled along with; responsible for manufacturing product utilizing primary and secondary processing equipment or hand assembly. Following all procedures and work instructions, achieve optimal productivity, quality, and safety assuring internal and external customer satisfaction; as a PCA II Is responsible for manufacturing product utilizing primary and secondary processing equipment or hand assembly. (Metalizing) Visual inspection of each part being metalized to insure quality standards are being achieved
Essential Functions
· A mold setter I positions molds used to cast products and parts. People in this job perform the positioning and placement of the mold either by hand or using a machine. A mold setter may work with a variety of different materials, including plastic, metals, lead, and composites. They may also be responsible for controlling the flow of materials and coolant into the machine and monitoring the process to deal with any problems as they arise.
- Protect our customers to ensure each product meets established quality criteria of zero non-conformances.
- Correctly record good production and scrap every hour on production paperwork and on the production pace board per work instructions.
- Correctly evaluate part quality based on part quality inspection instructions.
- Careful handling of parts that will run off of two presses / conveyors and based on work instructions.
- Handle each and every part with care from inspection to pack out to ensure the customers receives a quality product with no molding defects or handling/cosmetic defects.
- Correct application of all internal and external labels when required, including removal of all old labels from returnable packaging.
- Daily review all applicable quality alerts to keep you informed that a defect has escaped and reduce risk of a repeat failure while a permanent corrective action is put in place.
- Immediately notify Supervisor of all discrepancies to established quality checks (ie, sample boards, inspection instructions, SPC, etc.).
- Escalate production and quality issues/concerns to Supervisor during production, follow escalation policy.
Keep work area clean and organized in an effort to increase efficiencies and reduce risk of the product being damaged.
- Participate in team problem solving activities (ie, 8D’s, communication meetings, etc).
- Continuously focused on improving processes and participating in training and development programs
- Proactively participate in Kaizen events, and safety events
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
- Responsible for following all internal and OSHA required safety procedures.
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
