Shop Forman
Summary:
Responsible for running an efficient service shop; monitors work activity, works with techs to
ensure jobs stay on schedule. Oversee safety and shop equipment, and enforces rules and
regulations associated with the job site.
Essential Duties:
Ensures units are triaged, courtesy inspection performed within 2 hours and repair plans
are communicated to customers by management team.
Ensure case documentation within the Paccar Service Management tool is maintained
Ensure case flow is maintained from shop to parts and front office by techs.
Ensure case compliance directed by KWLAOEM for diagnostics and troubleshooting
Oversee job completion to include core and parts returns and warranty parts
Ensure technician-requested repairs and parts are reviewed and validated for necessity,
proper diagnosis, and alignment with the approved repair plan.
Monitor each technician's work habits and ensure we are enabling them to be efficient
Assist manager with shop meetings as needed to discuss operations and/or problems
that arise
Services as a liaison with factory representatives
Assists the staff in giving firm estimates on costs and time requited for repairs and
maintenance
Handles after hour service calls as needed for your team
Maintains the highest possible standards of workmanship
Assist service management in hiring, training, motivating all techs in our shop.
Assists Service Manager with training plans for techs required by manufactures/
suppliers
Develops systems to check for quality of workmanship and jobs performed. Leads
quality control inspection
Strives for teamwork and harmony with other departments
Maintains a repair order system that follows the "three C's"; complaint, cause and
correction
Maintains accurate records and ensures warranty parts retention and downloads
Works with parts department to ensure proper parts orders and delivery to shop meets
standards
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
At least five (5) years working in KWLA or equivalent shop as a tech
A Classification or equivalent technician level
CDL preferred
Must display excellent leadership, operational, and communication skills
Must have a positive, can-do attitude
Must have strong work ethic and commitment to extra hours when needed
Work Environment:
The employee will be exposed to moving parts and electrical current. Exposed also to grease,
chemicals, dust, dirt, and the heat and cold of the outdoors.
This position requires the employee to frequently stand, stoop, bend, and work in a crouched
position or lying on back on mechanic's dolly beneath motor vehicles. Employee is required to reach
and work overhead approximately 40% of the time and should be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
