Job Summary:
The Behavior Interventionist supports students in developing the behavioral, social-emotional, and executive functioning skills needed for success at school. The position provides proactive intervention, direct behavior support, and timely response to significant behavioral concerns. The Behavior Interventionist works collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and student support staff to promote a safe, positive, and supportive learning environment.
Essential Responsibilities
Student Behavior Support

Provide individual, small-group, and classroom-based behavioral interventions.

Teach and reinforce skills such as self-regulation, coping strategies, problem-solving, conflict resolution, appropriate communication, and following school expectations.

Implement interventions outlined in behavior plans
-
Provide proactive support during identified high-need times, settings, transitions, and activities.

Respond promptly to significant behavioral concerns and provide support during behavioral escalations and crises.

Use de-escalation, redirection, and approved safety procedures to maintain student and staff safety.

Support students in returning to the learning environment following behavioral incidents.

Help students reflect, repair, and practice strategies that will support future success.
Collaboration & Classroom Support
-
Partner to identify behavioral patterns, triggers, and effective interventions.

Support proactive classroom behavior strategies.
-
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, social workers, special education staff, school psychologists, and other student support personnel.

Participate in student support meetings as appropriate.

Communicate relevant student behavior information and intervention recommendations
Data & Progress Monitoring
-
Collect and document behavioral data and intervention information.
-
Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the student support team.
-
Use data to determine whether interventions are effective and recommend adjustments when needed.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation of behavioral incidents, interventions, and student progress.
Schoolwide Support
-
Reinforce schoolwide behavioral expectations and contribute to a positive school culture.

Support students across a variety of school settings, including classrooms, hallways, lunch/recess, arrival/dismissal, and other transitions.

Assist with behavior-related supervision and intervention as needed.
Participate in professional development related to behavioral interventions, de-escalation, social-emotional learning, and student support.

Required
Essential Skills Required:

Skill in supervising and directing appropriate student behavior and applying consistent redirection and consequences for appropriate and inappropriate behaviors.

Ability to apply rules, instructions and stated policies, procedures

Ability to develop a rapport with children and explain concepts in a simple and understandable manner.
