GA’s Magnetic Fusion Energy (MFE) Division plays a leading role in the development of fusion energy as a global provider of fusion systems and services.
This position reports to a senior manager and is responsible for the planning, managing, and technical performance of user programs across the MFE enterprise. This includes MFE’s user support for the US Department of Energy’s DIII-D National Fusion Facility and other programs that bring together international teams to advance fusion science and technology. This position oversees the initial efforts to develop new projects that apply MFE skills and other capabilities to emerging business opportunities.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead the startup of new programs, including defining the concept, developing the business case, identifying required resources, and establishing initial execution plans.

Develop and coordinate plans for new programs, services, or delivery models, ensuring alignment across multiple technical areas, product lines, and customer needs.

Establish and maintain processes that enable appropriate user access to fusion research facilities, including access requirements, scheduling, onboarding, approvals, and operational coordination.

Manage user engagement to track, identify support needs, and improve the effectiveness of research and development support systems.

Interact with senior management concerning matters of significance to the company. Act as primary contact for program issues.

Coordinate and improve the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets, and financial terms/conditions of contract(s).

Identify program issues and assist leadership in developing solutions such as re-allocation of resources or modifying contract specification.
- Lead the development of new business opportunities and expansion of existing business opportunities. Assess emerging fusion energy technologies, market opportunities, and customer requirements to help define future programs, partnerships, and strategic investments. Participate with senior management in pursuing business partnerships that enhance the capabilities of the Group/Company and may result in new products, programs and business opportunities.

Provide leadership across multidisciplinary teams by coordinating technical, programmatic, and business development activities among personnel who may not be direct reports.

Serve as a primary interface with customers, sponsors, government agencies, national laboratories, universities, and industry partners to identify opportunities and develop collaborative programs.
