We're seeking an experienced and highly motivated Wastewater Chemical Manager to lead our chemical treatment strategy across a growing national customer portfolio. What You'll Do
As the Wastewater Chemical Manager, you will serve as the company's subject matter expert for chemical treatment programs, providing strategic leadership, technical guidance, and operational support across multiple customer sites nationwide.
Chemical Program Leadership
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve chemical treatment programs across all operations.
- Establish company standards and best practices for chemical dosing, application, monitoring, and performance measurement.
- Evaluate treatment effectiveness and recommend solutions that improve compliance, efficiency, and cost performance.
- Identify and communicate existing, emerging, and potential chemical risks while ensuring alignment with environmental, health, and safety initiatives.
Technical Expertise & Operational Support
- Partner with operational leadership to optimize chemical usage, treatment outcomes, and program costs.
- Provide hands-on technical support and guidance for wastewater treatment systems and processes.
- Lead training and educational initiatives that strengthen operational knowledge, compliance, and customer service.
- Drive innovation by evaluating new technologies, treatment approaches, and process improvements.
Budget & Vendor Management
- Oversee chemical budgets and monitor program performance against financial objectives.
- Analyze chemical consumption, treatment costs, and operational efficiencies.
- Negotiate with vendors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing, maximize value, and improve profitability.
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure chemical operations comply with applicable EPA, OSHA, state, and local regulations across the United States.
- Lead compliance audits, documentation reviews, inspections, and reporting activities.
- Serve as a key resource during regulatory inspections and partner closely with Environmental Health & Safety teams.
- Maintain accurate records and promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in chemical management, wastewater treatment, industrial chemical operations, or a closely related field.
- Minimum 2 years of leadership, people management, or customer-facing management experience.
- Strong knowledge of industrial wastewater treatment processes and chemical treatment applications.
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively throughout the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related discipline.
- Wastewater operator license or certification.
- OSHA, HAZWOPER, or other relevant industry certifications.
- Experience supporting multi-site operations and industrial manufacturing environments.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in industrial facilities and varying weather conditions.
- Comfortable wearing required PPE and working around operational wastewater treatment systems.
Travel Requirements
This role requires 75-80% travel to customer sites across the United States. Candidates should enjoy working independently, visiting industrial facilities, and partnering directly with customers to solve operational challenges.

Compensation
The hiring range for this position is $90,000 - $115,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and business needs.
