Job Summary
The Radiology Assistant is responsible for assisting technologists at a variety of clinical sites and modalities with a broad range of health care services for operational needs such as imaging exams and procedures, patient transporting, and performing clerical duties including record keeping. The employee is trained to utilize a variety of radiographic equipment, computers, and software.
Performance: Position Specific Essential Functions
- Transporting patients/specimens to and from departments for multiple modalities.
- Preparing rooms after each patient exam (clean exam tables, machines, swap linen, change accessories to match the exam accordingly, i.e. MR Coils)
- Move patient to and from exam table and have them oriented/positioned correctly.
- Answer and direct phone calls, take messages.
- Import/export imaging in PACS.
- Monitor Epic tech worklist and call back techs as indicated for all modalities.
- Prepare paperwork for future appointments. Print exam schedules, labels.
- Check the status of all preliminary reports that are faxed from overnight radiologist group in PACS and EPIC.
- Scan in preliminary reports.
- Exam room stocking, providing list of supplies to be ordered to supervisors.
- Load injectors with syringes.
- Prepare IV start area with essential supplies.
- Mopping exam rooms.
- Cleaning radiology chairs and desks.
- Call to confirm appointments.
- Check for insurance authorization.
- Check lab orders and values,
- Helps reschedule exams for all locations due to unexpected equipment downtime/staffing issues.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- Required
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
Experience:
- Preferred
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology
Certification/Licensure:
- Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Must obtain within ninety (90) days of start date
- Preferred
