Intellectual Property Docketing Clerk

Currently, we are looking for an Intellectual Property Docketing Clerk in our Kalamazoo Office. In addition to our Kalamazoo Office, we have offices in Detroit MI, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Bloomfield Hills, Kalamazoo, Chicago, IL and Washington D.C. JOB SUMMARY
The Intellectual Property Docketing Clerk will be based in our Kalamazoo office and will perform a variety of duties to assist attorneys with respect to daily docketing of U.S. and foreign intellectual property matters. While this position will primarily be focused on docketing patent matters, longer-term this position may also include trademark docketing.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receives and processes docket-related correspondence (U.S. mail, electronic mailboxes, and couriers).
- Accurately enters data and scanned documents into the PATTSY docketing system.
- Prepares dockets reports for attorneys and others.
- Saves intellectual property documents into a document management system (iManage).
- Maintains positive contact with fellow professionals and observes confidentiality of client matters.
- From time to time, travels between Firm’s Michigan offices for training purposes.
- May perform other duties assigned by supervisors.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Technical experience with computers including Word, Excel and other MS Office products preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some formal education preferred.
- Patent docketing or patent experience preferred, but not required.
- Strong knowledge or skills on docketing system software and document management programs preferred.
- Strong work ethic; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to multi-task.
- Result-oriented and passionate about accuracy, attention to detail, timeliness and productivity.
- Must be able to work as part of a busy team in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly motivated and have the ability to stay focused and work with minimal supervision on highly confidential matters.
- Experience searching and researching in U.S. and foreign PTO rules and regulations preferred.
- Working knowledge of USPTO and foreign PTO rules and regulations preferred.
- Excellent organization skills.
Pay Range and Compensation Package
Honigman provides a generous total compensation package, which includes comprehensive health and well-being benefits, as well as 401k and profit sharing. The anticipated annual pay range for this role is $23.63 to $26.44 per hour (non-exempt). The actual offered pay rate will be determined based on various factors, including qualifications, experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and internal equity considerations.
