Job Summary:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer functions as the overall technical lead for projects. Technical duties in Mechanical engineering require adaptability and versatility. Examples of the type of work to be performed include the design of mechanical and plumbing components and systems; engineering calculations and analysis of thermal and fluid dynamics; development of HVAC system designs for a variety of facility types; and fire protection and life safety system design and integration. Additional responsibilities encompass the evaluation and selection of mechanical equipment, energy efficiency analysis, coordination of mechanical systems with other disciplines, construction administration and field support, as well as facility condition assessments and capital asset management planning for mechanical infrastructure. This is a hybrid work arrangement, with in office work required 3 days a week. Our NY location is one block off Penn Station.
Responsibilities:
- Perform project direct billable functions and responsibilities to maintain a personal utilization rate of 85%-90%.
- Responsible for the overall technical quality of assigned projects to ensure design compliance to meet SOW requirements and all applicable codes and standards.
- Oversees discipline-specific personnel and technical execution of design. This may include both local personnel and other internal business units within Salas O’ Brien.
- Responsible for performing engineering tasks such as site design, permitting, and assessments.
- Adheres to Project Management Plans (PMP) and Quality Control (QC) programs as assigned but does not change them without approval.
- May be assigned as Engineer of Record (EOR) and/or Design Lead.
- Participates in the Quality Control Program providing final approval of all Mechanical work products, performing Chief Engineer responsibilities, and/or performing Design Manager responsibilities when assigned.
- Ensure adherence to the quality control standards, including pass-through services/consulting.
Qualifications and Experience:
- 10+ years of professional Mechanical Engineering experience
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering degree required from an ABET-accredited program
- Licensed Professional Engineer
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications
- Must have working knowledge of the ASHRAE, ASME, NFPA, IBC, and IMC codes.
- Experience with CAD, Revit, Bluebeam Revu, or other Mechanical system modeling/drafting software is highly preferred.
Location: New York, NY
Travel: Some travel to US sites.
Compensation & Benefits:
The expected base salary range for this role is $140,000 - $175,000 USD per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
