About the Role
The Commercial HVAC Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining commercial HVAC systems across a variety of job sites. This includes troubleshooting equipment issues, performing repairs, communicating with customers, and ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
This role requires strong technical expertise in HVAC systems, including chillers and cooling towers, as well as the ability to work independently in the field while representing Midstate Mechanical in a professional manner.

Responsibilities
- Read and interpret equipment wiring diagrams to troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems
- Diagnose and repair commercial HVAC equipment including chillers and cooling towers
- Identify equipment issues and recommend repair or replacement solutions
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding service, repairs, and system performance
- Measure, size, cut, and install duct insulation as required
- Fabricate and repair ductwork, copper piping, and composite materials
- Perform system testing to ensure proper functionality after repairs or installation
- Maintain clean and organized job sites, including debris removal
- Repair or replace defective installed work to meet company standards
- Ensure all work complies with Midstate Mechanical policies and procedures
- Maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition
- Utilize tablets, smartphones, and software for job documentation and communication
- Adhere to all safety standards and protocols while working in various environments
Qualifications
- EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent required; HVAC certification preferred
- EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Minimum 5+ years of commercial HVAC service experience
- REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, troubleshooting, and repair techniques

Pay range and compensation package
Up to $40.00 per hour D.O.E. (very competitive pay)

Required Skills
- MEP Systems Knowledge – Strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems and components
- Equipment Diagnostics – Ability to troubleshoot complex HVAC systems and controls
- Technical Proficiency – Experience reading wiring diagrams and system schematics
- Repair & Maintenance – Ability to repair or replace defective components and systems
- Time Management – Ability to manage multiple service calls and priorities

- Physical Capability – Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in demanding environments

- Valid Driver’s License required with acceptable driving record
