Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Financial Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. In this pivotal role, you will lead financial accounting activities, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and support the organization’s financial integrity. Your expertise will drive accurate financial reporting, facilitate strategic decision-making, and uphold the highest standards of financial compliance. Some essential job duties will include (but not limited to):
Duties
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Take ownership of the month-end and year-end close processes and ensure deadlines are met.
- Perform general ledger, bank, and balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Analyze financial results, identify trends, and investigate significant variances.
- Analyze equipment utilization and operating costs to help management understand business performance.
- Partner with operations, department leaders, and executive management to provide financial insight and support business decisions.
- Ensure accounting practices comply with GAAP and company policies.
- Prepare audit schedules and documentation and work directly with external auditors.
- Prepare required regulatory filings.
- Support cash management and account reconciliation activities.
- Provide assistance with payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable as needed.
- Train, mentor, and support other members of the accounting team.
- Participate in special projects, acquisitions, system implementations, and process improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in transportation, trucking, construction, logistics, or a related industry.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Experience with month-end close and financial statement preparation.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with ERP or accounting software.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
