Brain, Spine & Pain Institute is seeking an experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to lead the psychiatric component of our expanding Brain Injury & Neuropsychiatry Program.
This is not a traditional outpatient psychiatry position.
You will work alongside a board-certified Neurologist specializing in Brain Injury Medicine within a highly collaborative multidisciplinary practice dedicated to helping patients recover after traumatic brain injury (TBI), concussion, motor vehicle accidents, PTSD, depression, anxiety, cognitive dysfunction, and related neuropsychiatric conditions.
Our program combines neurology, advanced neurodiagnostics, quantitative EEG, EEG-guided neuromodulation (TMS), trauma-focused psychotherapy, cognitive rehabilitation, vestibular rehabilitation, and collaborative specialty care into a comprehensive recovery model.

Position Summary
The Lead PMHNP will serve as the primary psychiatric clinician within our Maryland Brain Injury Program.
Your primary clinical home will be our Greenbelt office, where you will provide psychiatric care, collaborate closely with our multidisciplinary team, and serve as the on-site psychiatric clinician supporting our neuromodulation program.
As our practice continues to expand, you will also have the opportunity to provide telepsychiatry services across our multi-state practice, ensuring continuity of care and helping maintain a diverse and rewarding clinical schedule.
This role is ideal for an experienced clinician who enjoys professional autonomy, collaborative practice, and helping develop an innovative clinical service line.
Primary ResponsibilitiesPsychiatric Evaluation & Medication Management
- Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations.
- Diagnose and manage PTSD, depression, anxiety, insomnia, ADHD, and related psychiatric disorders.
- Provide evidence-based psychopharmacologic management.
- Deliver both in-person and telepsychiatry follow-up care.
- Collaborate closely with the treating neurologist regarding patients with traumatic brain injury and concussion.
Neuromodulation (TMS)
- Evaluate patients for Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS).
- Participate in individualized EEG-guided neuromodulation protocols following specialized training.
- Provide clinical oversight of patients undergoing TMS treatment.
- Collaborate with trained neuromodulation technicians.
- Monitor treatment progress, psychiatric symptoms, and clinical outcomes throughout treatment.
Prior TMS experience is welcomed but not required. Comprehensive training will be provided.
Brain Injury Care Coordination
Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary brain injury program by coordinating care with:
- Neurology
- Brain Injury Medicine
- Trauma-focused psychologists
- Speech-language pathologists providing cognitive rehabilitation
- Vestibular rehabilitation providers
- Consulting psychiatrist
- Other specialty providers involved in patient recovery
Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing multidisciplinary treatment plans.
- Coordinating psychiatric care within the overall rehabilitation program.
- Participating in multidisciplinary case conferences.
- Monitoring patient progress and treatment outcomes.
- Collaborating with rehabilitation providers to optimize recovery.
Multi-State Telepsychiatry
Brain, Spine & Pain Institute supports additional state licensure for qualified clinicians.
Your primary clinical responsibilities will remain centered in our Maryland program while also providing telepsychiatry services to patients across our expanding multi-state practice.
QualificationsRequired
- Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
- Active Maryland license (or eligibility for licensure)
- DEA registration
- Strong independent psychiatric assessment and medication management skills
- Excellent communication and collaborative practice abilities
Preferred
- 3–5+ years of psychiatric clinical experience
- Experience treating PTSD and trauma-related disorders
- Interest in neuroscience and traumatic brain injury
- Experience with TMS (training available)
- Experience practicing within multidisciplinary teams
- Multi-state licensure or willingness to obtain additional state licenses (supported by the practice)
