The Mt. Soledad Memorial Association is dedicated to honoring veterans and preserving one of San Diego’s most meaningful memorial landmarks. Through ceremonies, community events, educational outreach, and donor engagement, we create experiences that recognize service, remembrance, and connection.
We are seeking an organized, people-focused Event & Community Engagement Coordinator to help support and execute meaningful events while building strong relationships with guests, donors, vendors, and the community.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing creativity with hands-on coordination and administrative detail in a mission-driven environment.
Position Summary
The Event & Community Engagement Coordinator supports the planning and execution of events, ceremonies, and community programs hosted by the organization. This role works closely with internal leadership, vendors, volunteers, donors, and guests to ensure events are organized, welcoming, and professionally executed from start to finish.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, adaptable, service-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple moving pieces in a fast-paced environment.
Some evening and weekend event support will be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate logistics for events, ceremonies, donor gatherings, and community programs
- Communicate with vendors, venues, caterers, volunteers, and event participants
- Assist with scheduling, timelines, setup, breakdown, and event execution
- Help maintain event calendars, checklists, budgets, and tracking documents
- Support guest services and provide a welcoming experience for visitors and attendees
- Assist with community outreach, social media, and event promotion efforts
- Coordinate event materials, supplies, signage, and vendor arrangements
- Support sponsorship, donor engagement, and event enhancement opportunities
- Help ensure events reflect the professionalism and mission of the organization
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to solve problems and adapt quickly during live events
Qualifications
- Experience in event coordination, hospitality, nonprofit support, guest services, or administrative coordination preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
- Comfortable interacting with donors, community members, veterans, and public guests
- Professional, dependable, and adaptable under pressure
- Experience with social media, event promotion, or community outreach is a plus
- Familiarity with nonprofit, hospitality, military, or community-based organizations is helpful but not required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and basic event coordination tools preferred
