Part Time Special Education Paraprofessional (CURRENT 2025-2026 ACADEMIC SCHOOL YEAR)

REPORTS TO: Director of Student Supports
TERM: 10 months
POSITION SUMMARY: The Special Education Paraprofessional provides one-on-one interventions to assigned students; including crisis intervention, behavior management support, emotional support, time-structured activities, and psychological rehabilitative activities to children/adolescents who manifest a wide range of disabilities and functioning levels at school. The provision of these services allows the child to remain in the least restrictive treatment or education setting.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Carries out specific interventions that are identified in the behavioral treatment plan developed by the Director of Student Support.
- Teaches the child positive social skills in order to avoid or decrease socially inappropriate, threatening and/or dangerous behavior
- Models and explains the appropriate intervention to the child, family and/or teacher by working collaboratively with them
- Provides emotional support to child and teacher through individual and team coaching sessions
- Implements behavioral supports as identified in the treatment plan to support the child in their classroom or participation in activities
- Records data and documents progress toward child's goals
- Writes daily progress notes consistent with treatment goal adjectives.
- Completes weekly trackers
- Performs other duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
- At minimum 60 college credits or a high school diploma and can successfully pass the Para-Professional exam.
- Ability to keep pace with active children
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within an Educational setting
- Must be able to perform CPR using agency-trained protocols
- Must possess excellent customer interaction, collaboration, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated basic experience with Microsoft Office Word and Outlook
- Must have current clearances (Child Abuse; Criminal; and FBI Background check)
