Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our team and drive the success of our residential construction projects. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project specifications, and collaborating closely with clients, contractors, and project managers. Duties
- Review construction blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to accurately interpret project requirements and material needs
- Develop comprehensive cost estimates for commercial construction projects using estimating software such as ConstructionOnline and Bluebeam
- Analyze material costs, labor expenses, subcontractor bids, and equipment requirements to create detailed budgets
- Manage project estimates from initial concept through final bid submission, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness
- Utilize construction management software and Bluebeam to prepare detailed proposals, markup plans, and bid documents
- Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions, review construction drawings on-site, and gather real-time data for precise estimation
- Collaborate with clients and vendors through negotiation to secure favorable pricing and terms while maintaining project scope integrity
- Monitor project costs during execution to ensure adherence to budgets, implementing cost control measures as needed
- Review contracts, manage change orders, and communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding project scope adjustments or budget revisions
- Assist in managing multiple projects simultaneously by coordinating estimating activities with project management teams
- Secondary duties include material purchasing to ensure timely arrival and efficient utilization of project materials
Experience
- Related educational degree in field desired
- 2-10 years of experience in construction estimating, whether it be residential or commercial, with a strong understanding of the entire project lifecycle
- Proficiency in estimating software such as ConstructionOnline, Bluebeam, and other construction management tools
- Extensive knowledge of blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, and estimating material requirements from blueprints
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects efficiently while maintaining accuracy under tight deadlines
- Strong negotiation skills for pricing discussions with suppliers and subcontractors
- Familiarity with construction contracts, cost management strategies, and project management principles within the construction industry
- Hands-on experience with site visits, construction drawing review, and assessing technical specifications on active job sites
- Excellent communication skills for client interactions, team collaboration, and presenting detailed estimates confidently
