GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:
Performs skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of wood and metal fences. Assignments are received in the form of oral instructions and may be accompanied by sketches; work is inspected in progress and upon completion by a supervisor.
TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintains repairs and installs all types of wood and metal fences
RELATED TASKS:
Performs general carpentry work in the alteration, repair, and maintenance of wood/ metal fencing, stains and varnishes finished woodwork and other surfaces; Performs related work as directed;
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
General knowledge of standard practices, methods, tools and materials of the trade, qualities and the uses of various woods; knowledge in the care and use of tools and equipment essential for the maintenance and repairs in the carpenter trade; ability to perform manual labor for extended periods; knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade; ability to understand and effectively carry out oral instructions and written orders; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to lift, carry and push articles weighing up to 50 lbs. Must be able to wear, safety glasses, goggles, hearing protectors, safety shoes, and gloves.
Exposure to heights, extreme temperatures, moving mechanical parts, vibration, noise, and dust. Owning own tools, standard class c drivers license is a plus but not required.
