American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week ICU travel assignment requiring at least 2 years of ICU experience, with proficiency in vents, chest tubes, art lines, and swans.

Acute care hospital ICU setting with 11 beds, all private rooms
-
Patient population includes open heart surgery, general surgery, STEMIs, strokes, vents, chest tubes, art lines, swans, CRRT, and Impellas
-
Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1–2
-
Phillips telemetry monitoring in use; nurses are required to read telemetry strips on all shifts
-
Monitor techs are available on day shift only
-
Intensivist is on-call after 5pm
-
Respiratory therapy available 24/7
-
PICC line team available; no IV team
-
Pharmacy support available until 10pm; night shift nurses may be required to mix medications after hours
-
Charge nurses are present and may carry a small patient load
-
No nurse aides on unit
-
12-hour night shifts, 6pm–6am
-
Every other weekend required
-
Holidays worked in rotation with permanent staff

Float requirement to telemetry (1:4 ratio) or med-surg (1:5 ratio), with travelers floated first

Cerner EMR in use
-
13-week contract
-
Active CA RN license (Standard or Compact/NLC) required; pending licenses not accepted
-
Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS; pending certifications not accepted

Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required; travel experience preferred
-
Hands-on experience with chest tubes, art lines, and swan-ganz catheters required
-
Experience with vasoactive and critical care drips (e.g., dopamine, levophed, epinephrine, nitroglycerin) required

Experience with mechanical ventilators required
-
Cerner EMR experience preferred

Copy of driver's license required for consideration

2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Navy scrubs required
-
2-shift unit-specific orientation provided
-
Balloon pump patients will not be assigned to travelers
-
No neuro patients on this unit
-
Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year; candidates placed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered

RNs are required to pass a Relias Dysrhythmia exam before an offer can be confirmed
-
A pass/fail sterile technique test (Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes) is administered on the first day of orientation
