Medical Assistant/Scribe-General Dermatology
Summary:
Join a busy dermatology practice that fosters a culture of teamwork, camaraderie, and collegiality, all with exceptional patient care in mind. Duties include, but are not limited to, prepping rooms, rooming patients, taking vitals, medication refills, scribing the visit, phone triages, prior authorizations and clerical functions. Ideal candidates should be detail oriented and able to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
Key Competencies: includes some/all of the following based on physician needs
- Performs clinical and administrative duties
- Escorts patients to the examination room, documents their concerns in the EMR, and serves as a scribe for the physician during the patient visit
- Performs patient callbacks under the supervision of the physician
- Schedules patient appointments under the direction of the physician
- Assists with medication refills and prior authorizations under the supervision of the physician
- Assists the physician with in-office procedures (including minor surgeries), prepares the necessary dressings for post-procedure care, and instructs the patient in post-operative wound care under physician supervision
- Proficiency with the practice’s EHR system (EMA from modernizing medicine)
- Ability to complete prior authorizations for various medications/procedures and serve as liaison between physician and insurance company or other payors
- Prepares, stocks, and cleans the exam rooms
- Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization of equipment.
- Performs other duties as requested
- Must be willing to travel to the Avon, Cromwell, and South Windsor locations if needed
Education:
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Medical assistant certification or registration (CMA or RMA) not required but it is a bonus if you have this degree
- BLS certification

Experience:
- Medical Assisting: 1 year (preferred but not required)
- Medical Assisting in a Dermatology practice: 1 year (preferred)
- Experience with EHR systems (in particular EMA) highly preferred.
