St. Francis Borgia Grade School, a vibrant Catholic school community in the heart of Washington, Missouri, is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Classroom Aide.
The Classroom Aide supports the classroom teacher in creating a Christ-centered, academically excellent learning environment that fosters the spiritual, intellectual, social, and emotional growth of each student. The aide assists with lesson implementation, provides individualized support to students, and helps maintain a classroom atmosphere aligned with the mission and vision of St. Francis Borgia Grade School and the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools.
Job Responsibilities
The Classroom Aide will:
- Model and promote Catholic values in all interactions with students, families, and staff.
- Support the integration of faith-based principles in classroom activities.
- Help create a respectful, inclusive, and Christ-centered classroom environment.
- Serve as a positive role model of faith, service, and respect.
Instructional Support
The Classroom Aide will:
- Collaborate with the classroom teacher to implement lesson plans and activities.
- Provide one-on-one or small-group support for students with individual learning needs.
- Assist in preparing instructional materials and maintaining classroom organization.
- Help students stay engaged and focused during classroom activities.
Student Development
The Classroom Aide will:
- Foster positive relationships with students to support academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth.
- Monitor student behavior and reinforce classroom and school expectations.
- Assist with student progress monitoring and provide feedback to the classroom teacher.
- Encourage student independence, responsibility, and confidence.
Classroom Management
The Classroom Aide will:
- Help maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
- Support the teacher with classroom routines, transitions, and daily procedures.
- Address minor student conflicts appropriately and refer concerns to the teacher or administration when needed.
- Supervise students as assigned during classroom activities, transitions, recess, lunch, or other school settings.
Community Engagement
The Classroom Aide will:
- Build positive relationships with students, families, faculty, and staff.
- Support the mission of St. Francis Borgia Grade School through professionalism, teamwork, and a spirit of service.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in education or a related field preferred.
- Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church preferred.
- Familiarity with Catholic teachings and a commitment to faith-based education.
- Experience working with children in an educational or similar setting preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Basic proficiency in using educational technology and classroom tools.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, students, and families.
- Dependable, flexible, patient, and committed to supporting the needs of students.
