Position Overview
The Controller / Senior Financial Analyst is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the financial health, planning, reporting, and analysis of Branch Brook’s growing fuel and HVAC operations. This role combines hands-on accounting leadership with strategic financial planning, forecasting, and operational analysis.
The ideal candidate is an experienced finance professional who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys solving complex business challenges, and can transform financial data into actionable insights that drive decision-making and long-term growth.
This position works closely with ownership and department leaders and has the opportunity to influence business outcomes across all areas of the organization.

What You’ll Do
Financial Leadership & Reporting
- Lead all accounting and financial reporting functions.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
- Prepare accurate financial statements and management reports in accordance with GAAP.
- Coordinate year-end reviews, audits, and tax preparation with external CPA firms.
- Develop and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Prepare and lead annual budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial planning.
- Perform monthly variance analysis and communicate key business trends to ownership.
- Analyze profitability by department, service line, customer segment, and operational activity.
- Provide financial recommendations that support strategic business decisions and operational goals.
Business Partnership & Strategy
- Serve as a trusted advisor to ownership and department leaders.
- Deliver financial insights that improve decision-making, transparency, and accountability.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and operational efficiencies.
- Support growth initiatives, capital investments, and long-term business planning.
Cash Flow & Treasury Management
- Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital.
- Monitor banking relationships, financing arrangements, and credit facilities.
- Provide ongoing analysis of cash management and profitability trends.
Leadership & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Lead process improvement initiatives throughout accounting and administrative functions.
- Support and mentor accounting and administrative staff.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial planning, reporting, and analytical capabilities.
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field. Masters degree preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive accounting, finance, or controller experience.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Experience leading budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and strategic planning initiatives.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office Suite, and QuickBooks.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate financial information effectively to ownership and operational leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous Controller, Senior Controller, Finance Manager, or Senior Financial Analyst experience.
- Experience in fuel, HVAC, construction, service, transportation, distribution, or multi-location operations.
- Experience managing external CPA relationships, audits, and banking relationships.
- QuickBooks experience and/or QuickBooks Pro Certification.
- Proficiency working with Cloud Based Accounting Software.
- Experience with cloud-based accounting systems and business reporting tools.
- CPA designation is a plus.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
