Why This Role Matters
Infrastructure platforms are defined years before launch. AI-driven workloads, power and thermal constraints, and fast-moving ecosystem shifts mean early decisions determine competitiveness. This role makes sure Lenovo’s future server platforms are shaped early, grounded in real customer needs, and aligned with the partner ecosystem.
Role Summary
This role operates at the leading edge of Lenovo’s server portfolio, focused on future product generations (N+1 and N+2). You work hand in hand with Lenovo architects, the Server Offering leader, and the Server Strategy leader to shape future platform direction and raise decision quality across multi-year topics.
You bring strong technical credibility and product judgment. You translate long-horizon trends and customer insight into clear platform requirements, and you influence partner roadmaps by representing Lenovo’s customer-backed priorities in upstream discussions.
You act as a subject matter expert shaping direction and raising decision quality across product generations, working in close partnership with product, architecture, and leadership stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Future platform definition (N+1, N+2)
-
Identify and frame the most important future requirements across compute, memory, I/O, system architecture, manageability, serviceability, and platform constraints
-
Translate emerging workload and AI trends into clear implications for platform choices and differentiation
-
Provide structured inputs to early platform definition packages and multi-year planning discussions
Customer advisory forums and closed-loop feedback
-
Design, organize, and lead customer advisory forums focused on future platform needs and validation
-
Synthesize feedback into crisp requirements, trade-offs, and priority signals
-
Drive a closed feedback loop into development teams and industry partners to align future direction
Ecosystem and partner influence
-
Build trusted working relationships with key ecosystem partners (including major CPU vendors and other platform technology partners)
-
Represent Lenovo’s customer-backed requirements in upstream roadmap and capability discussions
-
Influence partner direction through clarity, evidence, and credibility, not positional authority
Strategy and offering partnership
-
Work in tight partnership with the Server Offering leader and the Server Strategy leader to ensure future platform direction is coherent, differentiated, and aligned to portfolio intent
-
Bridge architecture depth and product strategy, ensuring decisions stay grounded in customer value, competitiveness, and execution reality
Decision support and thought leadership
-
Bring structured thinking to ambiguous, long-horizon topics and improve decision quality in key forums
-
Develop clear points of view that help teams converge faster on what matters and why
-
Communicate complex technical topics in a way that is actionable for both technical and business stakeholders
Technical and AI awareness
-
Strong understanding of server platform fundamentals and system architecture trade-offs
-
Practical awareness of how AI workloads reshape infrastructure requirements (compute, memory bandwidth, interconnect, power and cooling, data movement)
-
Comfort using modern tools, including AI-assisted workflows, to improve analysis, synthesis, and decision support
Basic Qualifications:
-
10+ years of experience in server, infrastructure, platform, or closely related technology domains
-
Proven ability to operate effectively across multi-year horizons and translate trends into product-relevant direction
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Strong stakeholder influence skills across architecture, engineering, product, and external partners
-
Experience working with major ecosystem partners, including CPU vendors, is highly valued
-
Clear communication and synthesis skills, especially turning complex inputs into crisp decisions and requirements
