We are a family-owned environmental services company providing operation and maintenance of drinking water and wastewater treatment facilities throughout Central Florida. We are seeking a dependable, mechanically inclined operator who takes pride in maintaining high operating standards and delivering excellent service to our clients.
Position Summary
This position is responsible for the operation, inspection, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of multiple drinking water and wastewater treatment facilities located primarily in Lake and Seminole Counties.
A company vehicle is provided for work-related travel.
Qualifications
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
- No felony convictions.
- Florida Drinking Water and Wastewater Operator Certifications (Class C or higher), or the ability to obtain dual certification within an agreed-upon timeframe.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple facilities efficiently.

Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain drinking water and wastewater treatment facilities.
- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs on pumps, motors, valves, chemical feed equipment, and other mechanical systems.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and operational issues to minimize downtime.
- Collect required water and wastewater samples and perform field testing, including pH, chlorine residual, and other required analyses.
- Maintain accurate operational logs, maintenance records, and regulatory documentation.
- Monitor plant performance and make process adjustments to maintain compliance with applicable regulations.
- Identify opportunities to improve plant reliability, efficiency, and overall performance.
- Safely handle treatment chemicals and follow all applicable safety procedures.
Preferred Experience
- Experience operating drinking water and/or wastewater treatment facilities.
- Working knowledge of Florida DEP operating requirements.
- Experience with pumps, motors, controls, plumbing, and mechanical equipment.
- Familiarity with sampling procedures, laboratory testing, and regulatory reporting.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to chemical feed rates, process control, and operational adjustments.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry equipment and supplies.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, and perform manual labor throughout the workday.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
