Job Summary
Join our team as a Seafood Clerk, where you will be the face of our fresh seafood store, ensuring our customers receive exceptional service and high-quality products. Your enthusiasm for food, combined with your expertise in seafood handling and preparation, will help create an inviting shopping experience. You will be responsible for maintaining product freshness, preparing seafood items, and providing knowledgeable assistance to customers seeking culinary inspiration or specific seafood needs. This role is perfect for someone passionate about the food industry. No experience necessary but a food background is helpful.
As a shift leader, you will need some people management skills as well as an outgoing personality. You will be work with several other employees to make sure that all duties for a particular shift are completed. You will need to be comfortable supervising but also very willing to complete tasks yourself.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assist them with selecting seafood products tailored to their preferences and needs
- Prepare seafood items by packaging according to safety standards and customer specifications
- Maintain the freshness and quality of all seafood products through proper storage, rotation, and handling techniques
- Ensure all food safety protocols are followed diligently, including proper sanitation.
- Provide advice on different types of seafood, cooking methods, and recipe ideas to enhance customer satisfaction
- Restock displays regularly to ensure an appealing presentation of fresh seafood offerings, produce and grocery items
- Collaborate with team members to uphold cleanliness standards in the store and assist with inventory management
Requirements
- Prior experience in food production or food preparation, especially within the food industry or restaurant settings is helpful but not required.
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Kitchen experience or culinary background is highly desirable
- Ability to maintain cleanliness standards at all times
- Prior staff management is a plus.
