Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Bilingual Guest Advocate (aka Customer Service Representative) to join our team! In this role, you will serve as the first point of contact for diverse guests, providing exceptional customer service while addressing their needs with enthusiasm and professionalism. Your ability to communicate fluently in two languages will help bridge gaps and create a welcoming environment for all guests. You will play a vital role in ensuring guest intake and resource navigation. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact in an inclusive setting dedicated to serving underserved communities.
The Bilingual Guest Advocate supports guests through intake and resource navigation processes, helping identify immediate needs and connecting guests with programs that promote long-term stability and self-sufficiency. This position requires strong communication skills, compassion, professionalism, and a passion for serving the community with dignity and respect.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Support & Resource Navigation
- Welcome guests warmly and assist them in accessing free food market services.
- Guide guests through intake and registration processes, ensuring accurate and complete information.
- Listen attentively to guests’ needs and concerns while providing compassionate support and referrals.
- Assist guests in completing applications for community-based programs and services.
- Help guests understand available resources and next steps for accessing support.
Community Resource Coordination
- Develop and maintain relationships with local organizations, service providers, and community partners.
- Stay informed about available resources including food assistance, housing support, healthcare, transportation, employment services, and public benefits.
- Connect guests with appropriate long-term support programs and community services.
Data Collection & Reporting
- Accurately document guest interactions, referrals, and services provided while maintaining confidentiality.
- Assist with tracking service utilization and compiling data for internal reporting and grant requirements.
- Maintain organized and accurate records in accordance with organizational policies.
Education & Outreach
- Educate guests about available community resources and programs.
- Support outreach efforts that increase awareness of SECOR Cares programs and services.
- Represent SECOR Cares professionally within the community.
Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and community partners to support daily operations.
- Participate in monthly staff meetings, and other trainings and program discussions.
- Follow organizational procedures, safety standards, and direction provided by the Program Director.
Advocacy & Emotional Support
- Advocate for guests by identifying service gaps and communicating needs to leadership.
- Provide encouragement, empathy, and emotional support in a dignified and respectful manner.
- Foster a positive, welcoming environment for all guests and volunteers.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bilingual in any one of these languages: Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian, or Dari.
- Additional education or certifications in social work, human services, or related fields preferred.
- Previous experience in customer service, nonprofit work, social services, or community outreach preferred.
- Knowledge of local community resources, public assistance programs, and social services preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse populations.
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach to service.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
- Comfortable using computers and performing basic data entry and reporting tasks.
Schedule
- Schedule: Monday-Saturday availability
- Hours: 15 hours/week- 3-8 hours per day
