Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to provide essential support and care to individuals in various settings, including home care, assisted living, and long-term care facilities. As a PCA, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents by delivering personalized assistance with daily activities, health monitoring, and emotional support. Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor patients' vital signs and observe for any changes in health status, reporting findings accurately to healthcare professionals
- Administer medications following prescribed care plans and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy
- Support patients with meal preparation, feeding, and ensuring proper nutrition according to individual dietary needs
- Utilize patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques to ensure safe mobility and prevent injury
- Maintain detailed documentation of patient care activities, observations, and medication administration in accordance with facility policies
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering a caring and respectful environment
Experience
- Prior experience working in group homes, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home health environments is highly preferred
- Demonstrated experience with patient observation, monitoring vital signs, and implementing care plans for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and experience maintaining confidentiality of patient information
- Hands-on experience assisting with ADLs and using patient transfer equipment such as Hoyer lifts or other mobility aids
- Familiarity with caring for individuals with developmental disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, or intellectual disabilities support needs
- Experience working with seniors or individuals requiring memory care or hospice services is advantageous
- Strong communication skills for client interaction and collaboration with healthcare teams
