Branch Manager — Portland, OR Dry Box, Inc. | $85,000 – $100,000/year
Lead part of the largest container rental operation in the Pacific Northwest.
Dry Box is the PNW's largest supplier of shipping container rentals and sales. Family-owned and headquartered in Chehalis, WA, we operate seven yards across Washington, Oregon, Utah, Colorado, and Florida - serving over 100,000 customers across nine states. From storage containers and refrigerated units to ground-level mobile offices and fully customized builds, we deliver where others can't, with two decades of experience behind every box that leaves the yard.
Our Portland branch is growing, and we need a Branch Manager who can lead from the front and run it like it's their own.
The Role
You'll run the Portland branch end to end - people, equipment, sales, the yard, the trucks, and the P&L. You'll report to senior leadership for operations, safety, vision, sales, and financial performance. Your first 90 days are a hands-on training period under a senior leader where you'll learn the Dry Box way.
This is a small-branch role. You'll lead the team, and on a busy day, you'll be in the yard, on a truck, or covering the office. If you want a desk job, this isn't it.
What You'll Do
- Own daily branch operations: staffing, scheduling, inventory, facilities, safety, sales, and security
- Grow the rental fleet substantially through outside sales development and territory expansion
- Verify driver pre- and post-trip inspections hands-on and enforce DOT Hours of Service compliance
- Develop and enforce standardized safe work practices, including chain securement, three points of contact, and PPE use
- Manage monthly inventory verification, in/out gate inspections, and the container quality tagging system
- Keep the yard clean, organized, storm-ready, and accurately tracked
- Coordinate with the repair shop on estimates, out-of-service containers, and prompt damage resolution
- Manage lift equipment pre-inspections, maintenance, and yard traffic flow
- Recruit, train, cross-train, and retain a reliable team
- Coordinate third-party trucking, vendor relationships, and customer account workflows (POs, BOLs, billing inquiries, credit applications)
- Hold the team accountable for time clock accuracy and prompt morning yard departures
- Master our specialized central operations platform, and use it to drive branch performance
What You Bring
Required
- 2-year degree or technical training
- 4+ years in warehouse management, yard management, or DOT compliance
- 4+ years in a leadership role
- Class A CDL (or willingness to obtain) and working knowledge of DOT regulations
- Strong computer and mechanical skills
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to pass a background check
- Comfort working hands-on in a physical environment
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in organizational management or equivalent
- 4+ years specifically in yard management
- 6+ years of leadership experience in a competitive rental equipment environment
