Responsibilities
- Prepare patient rooms for provider visits
- Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, and medication updates
- Perform venipuncture and blood draws on patients of varying ages and levels of difficulty
- Collect, label, process, and prepare laboratory specimens accurately and efficiently
- Assist providers with patient care and clinical procedures
- Process prescription refills accurately and efficiently
- Complete prior authorizations for medications, imaging, and procedures
- Coordinate referrals and communicate with specialty offices
- Manage incoming patient messages, phone calls, and clinical documentation
- Maintain accurate and timely charting within the EMR
- Assist with patient education and follow-up care instructions
- Ensure all clinical tasks are completed promptly and thoroughly
- Support office workflow and contribute to a positive team environment
Qualifications
- Current LPN license or Medical Assistant certification preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of medical office experience preferred
- Extensive phlebotomy experience required - minimum 2 years
- Ability to perform blood draws confidently, efficiently, and with excellent patient care
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Strong understanding of prior authorizations, referrals, prescription management, and insurance requirements
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a high-volume environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
