Position Title
Inventory Specialist
Job Description
The Inventory Specialist is responsible for overseeing and maintaining accurate inventory control, state-regulated inventory, and daily inventory audits. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the accurate tracking, recording, labeling, and quality control of all cannabis products while maintaining compliance with Missouri regulations and company procedures.
The Inventory Specialist works closely with retail leadership, compliance, and team members to maintain accurate inventory records, identify and resolve discrepancies, support audits, and ensure all inventory activity is properly documented in METRC and other inventory management systems.
What You Will Do
- Utilize METRC, LeafLogix, Dutchie, and other inventory software to maintain accurate inventory records and state compliance.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable state rules and regulations related to cannabis inventory.
- Assist with receiving, organizing, and maintaining vault inventory.
- Update inventory logs daily and ensure inventory counts remain accurate.
- Conduct inventory management in accordance with Sunrise Dispensaries processes and procedures within METRC and Dutchie.
- Assist the Compliance Director and Retail Operations Manager with METRC and Dutchie audits.
- Ensure all required inventory data is accurately reported to METRC and Dutchie in accordance with the 24-hour intake requirement.
- Monitor METRC integration audits and identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies.
- Work with management and team members to reduce data-entry errors and improve required reporting and record maintenance.
- Perform daily inventory audits to ensure physical inventory accurately matches system records and satisfies state requirements.
- Conduct cycle counts and other inventory verification processes as assigned.
- Develop and maintain processes for verifying manifests and ensuring required information is complete and accurate.
- Complete investigations related to missing, damaged, or discrepant products.
- Track product rejections and returns that occur during transportation or receiving.
- Ensure all packages are properly labeled, identified, and recorded.
- Communicate inventory or vault issues to the Compliance Director and Retail Operations Manager promptly.
- Maintain the vault in a clean, organized, secure, and efficient manner.
- Follow established company policies, procedures, and inventory controls.
- Adapt quickly to changes in regulations, policies, procedures, and operational practices.
- Maintain strong communication and organization while working in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Follow instructions and implement corrective measures to maintain inventory accuracy, compliance, and quality standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
What Success Looks Like
- Maintains highly accurate physical and digital inventory records.
- Completes daily audits and cycle counts consistently and accurately.
- Identifies and resolves inventory discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Ensures METRC and Dutchie records remain accurate, complete, and compliant.
- Maintains accurate labeling, manifests, receiving records, and inventory documentation.
- Keeps the vault organized, secure, and operating efficiently.
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail and follows established procedures consistently.
- Communicates inventory issues and compliance concerns promptly to leadership.
- Works collaboratively with retail, compliance, and management teams to support operational goals.
Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Eligible to obtain a Missouri Medical Marijuana Agent Identification Card.
- Previous experience in inventory control, data management, accounting, or a related field required.
- Prior experience using METRC required.
- Experience working with cannabis inventory or in a regulated industry preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to accurately follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
- Strong organizational, time management, and follow-up skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and related software.
- Ability to learn and effectively use inventory and point-of-sale systems.
- Ability to multitask and establish priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team.
- Ability to communicate professionally with employees, managers, peers, and executives.
- Ability to accurately log, label, count, and track inventory.
- Ability to consistently maintain standards for accuracy, safety, compliance, and communication.
- Previous accounting or reconciliation experience is a plus.
