**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on vehicles, ensuring that all equipment is in good working order and meets safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mechanical systems, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the Stallion Transportation Group core value of safety first and always.
- Support the Service Manager and Shop Manager in enforcing their established processes
- Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.
- Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules
- Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems.
- Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.
- Maintains vehicle appearance by documenting missing parts, damages, and uncleanliness.
- Maintains vehicle records by annually performing services and repairs.
- Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions and handling with respect
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications.
- Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Maintenance and repair of trailers. Trailer maintenance will include annual inspections, tire management, brakes, lights, and etc.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Ability to multi-task
- Solid analytical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient computer skills
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintain a positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given
- Solid judgment to make cost saving decisions
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate degree preferred (Tech School)
- 2 or more years of experience in the Diesel Maintenance Field preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
- Must be able to lift or carry 50lbs
