The Goley Companies is hiring an Accounting Intern to support our Accounting team at The Goley Companies. This role is a hands-on opportunity to learn the day-to-day operations of a growing accounting department. You will contribute directly to high-impact projects such as communicating with vendors to ensure correct delivery of invoices, as well as offering a faster payment method through ACH, establishing schedules for recurring payments to better aid cash flow discussions, and helping train the Stampli AI to automate approval workflows. The intern will free up senior accounting staff to focus on system testing and rollout, while gaining real-world exposure to process design.
This role will run for at least 10 weeks at 15 - 25 hours per week with potential for renewal.

Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable Support
- Assist with daily Accounts Payable operations, ensuring invoices are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Communicate with vendors to ensure invoices are submitted correctly and resolve invoice or payment-related questions.
- Promote and assist vendors with enrollment in ACH payments to improve payment efficiency and reduce processing costs.
- Print, sort, file, and organize vendor invoices and supporting documentation in accordance with company procedures.
- Match vendor invoices to purchase orders, packing slips, and other supporting documentation, identifying and escalating discrepancies for review.
- Assist with vendor file maintenance, including collecting W-9 forms, updating vendor records, and maintaining accurate account information.
- Help prepare check runs and ACH payment batches for review and approval.
- Establish and maintain recurring payment schedules to support effective cash flow planning and forecasting.
- Maintain organized digital and physical Accounts Payable records in accordance with company record retention policies.
- Assist with invoice reconciliation, payment tracking, and resolving discrepancies to ensure accurate financial records.
System Optimization
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of AI-powered Accounts Payable processes by helping train and optimize the Stampli AI platform.
- Review invoice coding, approval routing, and workflow recommendations to improve automation accuracy and efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes through automation, standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with testing, documenting, and validating enhancements to accounting systems and workflows.
- Provide feedback on system functionality and participate in process improvement initiatives to increase operational efficiency.
General Accounting Support
- Assist with month-end close activities, including account reconciliations, schedule preparation, and supporting documentation.
- Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and analyses to support cash management, Accounts Payable, and other accounting functions.
- Perform data entry and provide administrative support for accounting transactions while maintaining a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and cross-functional projects to gain exposure to broader accounting and finance operations.
- Support special projects and perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage repetitive tasks accurately.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office suite.
- Comfortable handling confidential financial information with discretion.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for SOP drafting and team collaboration.
Preferred
- Prior internship, work-study, or part-time experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or office administration.
- Exposure to ERP systems (NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) or AP automation tools (Stampli, Bill.com, etc.).
- Coursework or interest in accounting information systems, process improvement, or business analytics.
- Pursuit of CPA eligibility a plus.
