Job Summary
micro1 is engaging Chemistry Experts (PhD) to contribute their advanced subject-matter expertise to a high-impact AI training project for a customer. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input.
This is an hourly-paid contract opportunity for chemistry experts who are passionate about applying their scientific knowledge to emerging AI technologies. You will help develop and evaluate high-quality chemistry content that improves AI reasoning across both foundational and specialized areas of chemistry.
No prior AI experience is required. Your scientific expertise and research experience are what matter most.
Scope of Work
- Produce accurate, well-reasoned, and scientifically rigorous responses to advanced chemistry questions for AI training and evaluation.
- Review and validate chemistry data, questions, and solutions to ensure scientific accuracy, completeness, and alignment with current best practices.
- Develop comprehensive explanations covering both foundational and advanced chemistry concepts across multiple disciplines.
- Collaborate with annotation leads and project managers to refine project guidelines and maintain high-quality standards.
- Create "golden responses" that serve as benchmark examples for future AI model training.
- Document scientific reasoning, assumptions, and methodology to improve data quality and AI interpretability.
- Participate in remote discussions and collaborative reviews to ensure consistency across project deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Chemistry or a closely related scientific discipline.
- Strong expertise across multiple areas of chemistry, including organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, materials chemistry, environmental chemistry, or computational chemistry.
- Experience authoring, reviewing, or publishing scientific, technical, or educational chemistry content.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex chemical concepts clearly.
- Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to scientific accuracy and methodological rigor.
- Experience with AI, data annotation, benchmarking, or scientific content development is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a remote, distributed team environment.
