Controller (Automotive Dealership)
CarDome Auto Sales is one of Michigan's fastest-growing independent automotive dealerships, selling over 100 vehicles per month with a full-service repair facility, collision center, and an expanding multi-location operation.
We are seeking an experienced Automotive Controller to lead our accounting department. Automotive dealership experience is required. Candidates without dealership accounting experience will not be considered.
Responsibilities
- Manage all dealership accounting operations
- Oversee month-end and year-end financial close
- Prepare accurate financial statements and management reports
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure financial accuracy
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash flow
- Reconcile floorplan accounts and flooring schedules
- Reconcile bank accounts and manufacturer/lender receivables
- Oversee title processing and deal posting accuracy
- Monitor contracts in transit (CIT) and funding schedules
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal controls
- Coordinate with outside CPA firms, auditors, lenders, and financial institutions
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff
- Assist ownership with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
- Develop and improve accounting processes as the dealership continues to grow
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements
QualificationsRequired
- Minimum 5 years of automotive dealership accounting experience
- Previous experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Office Manager in a dealership
- Strong understanding of dealership accounting processes
- Experience with:
- Deal posting
- Floorplan reconciliation
- Contracts in Transit (CIT)
- Bank reconciliations
- Financial statement preparation
- Sales tax
- Payroll oversight
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Excellent attention to detail
Preferred
- Experience with Dealertrack DMS
- Experience managing a multi-rooftop or high-volume dealership
- CPA or accounting degree is a plus, but not required

Pay: $95,001.95 - $120,000.00 per year
