Customer Service Assistant Job Overview
We are looking for a friendly and dependable Customer Service Assistant to join our veterinary team. This position is primarily a reception role, with additional support for our kennel and veterinary teams as needed.
The right person will enjoy working with people and animals, be comfortable in a busy environment, and be able to stay organized while handling multiple tasks. You will be one of the first points of contact for our clients and will help make sure both clients and their pets have a positive experience at our clinic.
This position will include client communication, scheduling, phone calls, record keeping, payments, and other front desk duties, along with helping with basic kennel and veterinary assistant tasks when needed.
Duties: Reception and Client Service
- Greet clients and their pets in a friendly and professional manner
- Answer phones, respond to client questions, and direct calls as needed
- Schedule appointments and help manage the daily appointment schedule
- Check clients and patients in and out
- Collect payments and handle cash, credit cards, and other forms of payment
- Communicate with clients by phone, email, and other clinic communication systems
- Make reminder and follow-up calls to clients
- Maintain accurate patient and client records
- Enter information into the computer and veterinary software
- Prepare paperwork and assist with medical records
- Keep the reception area clean, organized, and welcoming
- Help keep the clinic running smoothly by communicating with the veterinary and kennel teams
Kennel / Veterinary Assistant Support
- Assist with basic patient care and handling as directed by the veterinary team
- Clean and disinfect kennels, treatment areas, and other areas of the clinic
- Help prepare exam rooms and treatment areas
- Assist with patient restraint when appropriate and under the direction of the veterinary team
- Help with moving and safely handling patients
- Assist veterinary staff with basic tasks during appointments and procedures
- Help with laundry, dishes, stocking, and general clinic cleaning
- Follow clinic safety, cleaning, and patient care procedures
Requirements
- Friendly and professional communication skills
- Comfortable working with both people and animals
- Ability to stay organized and multitask in a busy environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn veterinary software
- Comfortable answering phones and communicating with clients
- Ability to handle payments and cash accurately
- Able to work well as part of a team
- Willingness to learn basic veterinary and animal care skills
- Ability to safely handle and work around dogs and cats
- Previous veterinary, kennel, receptionist, customer service, or animal care experience is preferred but not required
- Bilingual abilities are a plus
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone dependable, friendly, willing to learn, and able to jump in wherever help is needed. This position will spend most of the day working at the front desk, but there will be times when helping the veterinary and kennel teams is an important part of the job.
A positive attitude, good communication, and the ability to work well in a team are very important for this position.
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
