About Australia is a national travel wholesaler, based in San Antonio, Texas. We specialize in direct-to- consumer tailor-made vacation packages to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and the South Pacific. For over 20 years, About Australia has enjoyed an excellent industry reputation, partnering with agencies in the South Pacific such as Tourism Australia, Tourism New Zealand and Tourism Fiji.
We are in search of full-time Travel Advisors in Travel Sales specializing in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, & Tahiti. Our team is 100% remote and looking to grow fast as demand for travel to the South Pacific is on the rise. Our #1 goal is to ensure every client has a once-in-a-lifetime, no worries journey.
Providing unparalleled customer service, your primary role will be to communicate with our company’s US based clientele (via phone, email, text, or instant messenger) assisting them to plan & book a trip through one of our four Company Brands: About Australia, About New Zealand, About Papua New Guinea and About Fiji.
The About Australia Digital Marketing team is extremely effective in reaching US based International travelers who are already considering planning a trip to the destinations we represent. Your role will be to establish contact with the leads generated & walk them through the itinerary design & sales process. Our strength is providing tailored, logistically smart itineraries matching client aspirations, budgets suiting their available time of travel – it will be your responsibility to facilitate this service.
What does a Travel Advisor do?
- Develops amazing vacation itineraries based on client needs
- Works directly with clients and travel agents
- Pays special attention to the details of a trip including logistics and small ways a trip can be made extra special for a client
- Pitches pre-designed itineraries to clients
- Responds to inquiries by phone and email in an organized and systematic fashion
- Uses CRM to manage clients and trips
- Conducts vacation consultations by phone or email
- Reviews and edits budgets as needed
- Prepares quotations for clients
- Finds flight availability and saves PNRs in GDS (Global Distribution System)
- Follows up with clients on needed documentation
- Up-Sells additional tours and upgrades after sale
- Sets proper expectations for clients - does not rely on ‘overselling’ to get the sale
- Ensures client expectations are passed to the administrative team
- Ensures booking deadlines are clear and achievable
- Conducts pre-departure itinerary reviews with clients
- Professional enrichment
- Attends product training on hotels, tours and regions (mostly virtual, but some may require travel)
- Takes certifications to become a Specialist for Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Tahiti and other South Pacific destinations

Requirements
- US work authorization
- High School Degree, 4-Year College Degree preferred
- 1-2 years sales experience with proven results
- Professional travel industry experience
- Experience with Amadeus, Worldpan, Sabre or Apollo (we use Amadeus)
- Experience with CRM systems (we use Zoho CRM)
- Experience building and selling travel itineraries
- General knowledge of Australia, New Zealand and/or Fiji travel
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Products, mainly Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to provide references and pass criminal background check
- Computer savvy with the ability to navigate between multiple systems
- Home office space
- Reliable internet connection (Minimum 10Mbps Download, 5Mbps Upload)
- Quiet room or area of the home with desk that can accommodate 2 large monitors and comfortable chair
- Smartphone with room to install 2 Authenticator Apps (approx. 12 – 100MB in size each)
