Position Summary
The Senior Accountant is an integral part of managing the financial activities of multiple clients, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting and providing strategic financial insights to support our mission. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and a commitment to quality and collaboration. This position is hybrid, with regularly scheduled onsite training and meetings.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP, ensuring accuracy and transparency for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Month-End Close: Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with managers and leadership to assist in developing annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.
- Internal Controls: Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct analyses, such as variance and cost analysis, to provide insights for decision-making and resource allocation.
- Collaboration: Work effectively with program managers, development, and administrative teams to provide financial insights and support organizational initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, ideally including nonprofit or multi-client environments
- Proficiency with accounting software and financial systems
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to interpret and communicate financial data to non-financial stakeholders
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset
