Responsibilities
- Operate sandblasting equipment and hand tools to clean, smooth, and prepare surfaces for coating or finishing processes
- Follow detailed production documents and specifications to ensure surface preparation meets quality standards in manufacturing and construction painting projects
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators and respiratory protection gear, to safeguard against dust, debris, and other hazards during abrasive blasting activities
- Interpret technical drawings, machining instructions, and surface preparation guidelines to execute tasks accurately
- Handle materials safely using forklifts and other power tools, ensuring proper storage and transportation of abrasive media and finished components
- Conduct visual color comparisons and inspect surfaces with precision measuring instruments to verify quality standards are met before coating or painting
- Assist with coating processes such as conventional spraying, airless paint spraying, or powder coating to achieve uniform finishes on various substrates
Requirements
- Proven experience operating sandblasting equipment or similar abrasive cleaning tools in a manufacturing or construction setting
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to use hand tools, power tools, spray guns, and basic machining equipment effectively
- Familiarity with safety protocols related to PPE use, respiratory protection, and hazard communication in industrial environments
- Ability to interpret production documents, technical drawings, and surface preparation instructions accurately
- Basic math skills for measuring materials and verifying dimensions during surface prep activities
- Knowledge of quality standards in production environments to ensure finished surfaces meet specifications
