Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures with animal restraint and handling techniques.
- Perform laboratory tests, including sample collection, processing, and analysis to support accurate diagnoses.
- Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures such as animal catheterization and wound management to prevent infection.
- Conduct dental cleanings and understand dental terminology to support oral health treatments.
- Operate X-ray equipment safely, interpret radiographs, and assist with imaging procedures involving animal physiology.
- Support veterinary critical care efforts by monitoring vital signs, administering treatments, and assisting with emergency protocols.
- Manage animal restraint using proper techniques for various species including dogs, cats, and equines.
- Maintain detailed medical records, laboratory logs, and treatment documentation accurately.
Skills
- Proven kennel experience combined with animal handling skills across different species.
- Strong understanding of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and physiology.
- Experience with laboratory procedures, X-ray operation, and veterinary critical care practices.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, pet grooming techniques, and aseptic surgical methods.
- Ability to perform animal catheterization and apply proper restraint techniques effectively.
- Familiarity with equine care practices is a plus; dog training experience is highly valued.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members and educating pet owners about pet care needs.
